A job is a specific role you do, often for income in the short term, while a career is the longer-term trajectory of connected roles and skill-building within a field, usually tied to bigger goals.
A job can be a standalone position, taken for practical reasons like income, flexibility, or simply availability — it doesn't necessarily connect to a longer-term plan.
A career implies progression — each role builds on the last, developing skills, reputation, and opportunities that compound over time within a chosen field or profession. Someone might work several "jobs" that are all part of the same overall "career," or take a job that has nothing to do with their broader career path.
Neither is inherently better — a job that pays the bills while someone studies or builds a business on the side is a perfectly reasonable choice, and not every job needs to serve a five-year plan.
